LETTERFORMS CONSTRUCTED DURING THE TYPE CHALLENGE '36 DAYS OF TYPE 2020'

Brief

36 Days of Type was a yearly type challenge where participants designed letters in their own style every day for 36 days. I challenged myself to create a letter everyday using certain rules and also animate their construction.

Inspiration

I am a geometry and type enthusiast and creating very different visuals by sticking to restrictive rules is something that I really enjoy. I visualised letterforms in a 3D space where it has several parts put together like a box that is cut-out. These visuals too were created using only basic geometric shapes.

Concept

I created a set of letters from a 3X3 square grid using circles and squares only. I merged the arcs of a circle with squares to give definition to the forms. Later, I played around with a palette of extreme RGB values of yellow, red & blue and also animated the forms in such a way that it looked like parts of a 3D object coming from different planes.
